HISTORY
This tote features an oversized Sawtooth Star quilt block in earthy olive green and soft white — one of the most beloved and recognizable traditional quilt blocks in American quilting history.
The Sawtooth Star made its first known published appearance in the Farm & Fireside periodical in 1884 from Springfield, Ohio. Like many traditional quilt blocks documented by quilt historian Barbara Brackman, the design likely existed long before publication, passed from quilter to quilter through community and tradition.
I’ve always loved the movement and bold geometry of this block. Scaled up large on a tote, it feels both timeless and modern at the same time.
